Toni Bou (HEBO-Montesa) dominated the Italian TrialGP after winning the two days of competition. The Piera river prevailed on the steep climbs and large natural rocks of the Sestriere ski resort, in the Italian Alps.
On Saturday, Bou set the pace from the start and distanced himself from the local idol Matteo Grattarola (Beta) and Jaime Busto (HEBO-Beta), Bou's greatest rival in the overall championship standings.
On Sunday, Bou was once again the outstanding leader and, this time, Gabriel Marcelli (HEBO-Montesa) climbed to the second place on the podium ahead of Adam Raga (TRRS) who resumed the competition after missing the previous round due to knee surgery.
“It hasn't been as easy as it seems,” Bou commented, “but I'm super happy with the result and also with the team, because they worked very hard to prepare for the high altitude event. Now I have a good lead in the championship and I'm going to take a few days off."
After the Italian event, Bou leads Busto by 29 points in the general classification. In the absence of the last round of the season, the TrialGP of France, from September 1 to 3.
